Lele – Reality

Stylized music video production with a compact cinema kit

Reality by Lele is a visually driven music video built around mood, performance, and rhythm. The creative direction leaned into bold compositions, controlled lighting, and intentional camera movement, requiring a setup that could deliver cinematic images while remaining flexible and efficient for a small crew.

The project was produced using a lightweight cinema camera and lighting package, proving that strong visual identity in music videos comes from creative choices, not oversized gear.

The Challenge

The music video required:

Visually striking, performance-driven imagery

Precise lighting control to shape mood and texture

Efficient setups to move quickly between shots

A camera system that supported both static frames and movement

The goal was to create a strong visual world that complemented the track without overcomplicating production.

The Camera Approach

We focused on:

Super 35 cinematic depth of field

High-resolution capture for reframing and post and VFX flexibility

Lenses with consistent color and contrast

Compact camera builds to allow freedom of movement

The camera language was designed to feel intentional, graphic, and rhythmically connected to the music.

Camera Equipment Used

Primary Cameras

Z CAM E2-S6 (Super 35 Cinema Camera)

  • 6K capture for detailed images and post flexibility

  • Strong dynamic range for controlled highlights and shadows

  • Compact form factor ideal for music video sets

Recording

Atomos Ninja V (ProRes RAW 12-bit)

Enabled greater control in color grading and helped shape the final look of the video in post.

Lenses

Sigma Cine Lenses (T2)

  • 18–35mm zoom for controlled interior framing

  • 50–100mm zoom for emotional compression and portrait-style shots

  • Consistent color, contrast, and exposure across focal lengths

The Lighting Approach

Lighting for Reality was designed to be stylized but controlled, supporting the performance while creating a distinct visual tone.

The approach relied on:

One strong key source

Controlled fill and accent lights

Minimal fixtures to keep the set agile

The lighting needed to respond to movement and performance without breaking continuity.

Lighting Used

Key Light

Godox SL300III / M300D

Used as the main key light.

Its output allowed us to push light through diffusion or bounce while maintaining a soft, cinematic look.

Fill & Accent

2 × Godox SL-60W /

Neewer 60w Panles

Used for fill, edge light, or background separation depending on location and time of day.

Practical Lighting

Fairy Lights

Used in the background and practical fixtures to:

  • Motivate light sources in frame

  • Add warmth and depth

  • Maintain control over color temperature without breaking realism
